The Brooks Ghost Max is the max-cushioned, rockered version of the Brooks Ghost. Same neutral, no-surprises philosophy, but far more foam underfoot and a geometry that rolls the stride forward instead of slowing it down.

What sets it apart from the Ghost

Two things. First the 6 mm drop instead of 10 mm: the foot sits flatter and the load spreads differently. Then the sheer volume of DNA LOFT v3, with a double-rocker midsole that carries the foot from heel strike through toe-off.

The result is not just softer. The platform is also wider, which gives it a stability many heavily cushioned shoes lack.

Who is the Ghost Max for?

  • High-mileage runners who want to protect their legs on easy days.
  • Coming back from a break or an injury, when impact starts to register.
  • Slow long runs, where comfort matters more than pop.
  • Walking and long days on your feet: the cushioning and rocker make it comfortable well beyond running.

It is not a speed shoe. The tall stack calms the stride; for fast sessions, look at the Brooks Hyperion or the Brooks Launch instead.

Ghost Max or Glycerin Max?

Both are max-cushion Brooks shoes with a 6 mm drop. The Glycerin Max stacks higher and uses DNA Tuned foam, plusher and pricier. The Ghost Max is more planted and more stable. You feel the difference in the first few steps, which makes this one of those choices a two-minute try-on settles.

Is the 6 mm drop something to worry about?

If you are coming from a 10 or 12 mm shoe, your calves and Achilles work a little harder. Nothing dramatic over a 4 mm difference, but alternate with your usual pair for the first two or three weeks rather than switching over all at once.

A tall-stack shoe does not suit everyone: the feel changes with foot width and stride. Our staff run themselves and take the time to fit you, near Québec City.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the Brooks Ghost and the Ghost Max?
The Ghost has a 10 mm drop and balanced, versatile cushioning. The Ghost Max drops to 6 mm, stacks far more foam and adds a rockered midsole that rolls the foot forward. The Ghost is livelier, the Ghost Max more protective.
Is the Ghost Max good for walking and long days on your feet?
Yes. Its max cushioning and rockered geometry make it comfortable well beyond running, though it is still designed to run in first.
Ghost Max or Glycerin Max?

Does the 6 mm drop need an adjustment period?
If you are coming from a 10 or 12 mm shoe, your calves and Achilles work a little harder. Alternate with your usual pair for two or three weeks rather than switching over all at once.
