The Brooks Launch is Brooks' light, snappy shoe. It is the fast daily trainer of the line: cushioned enough for easy runs, responsive enough for intervals, and noticeably cheaper than the category's flagship models.

Light without being minimal

At around 230 g in a men's 9, the Launch sits between the classic daily trainer and the race shoe. Its nitrogen-infused DNA FLASH foam gives a clear energy return without the mushiness of heavily stacked shoes. The 10 mm drop stays conventional: no transition needed if you are coming from a Ghost or an Adrenaline.

Who is the Launch for?

  • A first real running shoe: versatile, durable, reasonably priced.
  • A second pair for anyone already logging miles in something heavily cushioned who wants more bite.
  • Tempos, intervals and races from 5 to 21 km, without investing in a carbon plate.
  • Runners who find modern shoes too tall and too soft.

Launch or Ghost?

The Ghost is more cushioned, heavier and more comfortable on slow long runs. The Launch is lighter, more direct and livelier. Plenty of runners rotate both: the Ghost for volume, the Launch for the days that push.

What about the Launch GTS?

The Launch GTS is the supported version: same characteristics, plus Brooks' GuideRails to limit excessive pronation. If your stride rolls inward, that is the variant to look at.

Launch or Hyperion?

The Hyperion is lighter still and built for outright speed, with plated versions for race day. The Launch remains a training shoe: it takes more mileage and costs less.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Brooks Launch good for beginners?
Yes. Its 10 mm drop is conventional, its cushioning is enough for easy runs and it sits well below the flagship models in price. It makes an excellent first real running shoe.
What's the difference between the Launch and the Ghost?
The Ghost is more cushioned, heavier and more comfortable on slow long runs. The Launch is lighter, more direct and livelier. Plenty of runners rotate both.
What is the Launch GTS?
It is the supported version: the same characteristics as the Launch, plus Brooks' GuideRails to limit excessive pronation.
Can you run a marathon in the Launch?
For a light runner with an efficient stride, yes. If you are mainly after protection over 42 km, a more cushioned model like the Glycerin will suit you better.
