The Saucony Kinvara is a classic. Launched in 2010, it is the shoe that showed a whole generation of runners you could move fast without a plate or an oversized midsole. Sixteen generations later, it is still one of the lightest trainers on the market.

Light, low, direct

At around 210 g with a low 4 mm drop, the Kinvara prioritizes ground feel. Its PWRRUN foam cushions without swallowing the stride, and the minimal upper weighs next to nothing. It is a shoe that lets the foot work rather than doing the work for it.

Who is the Kinvara for?

  • Fast sessions, tempos and intervals, when you want to feel the pace.
  • 5 and 10 km races without investing in a carbon plate.
  • A second pair to rotate with something more cushioned.
  • Efficient runners who find today's shoes too tall.

The 4 mm drop: what to know

If you usually run in a 10 mm drop, your calves and Achilles take on more. That is not a problem in itself, but go gradually: a few short runs a week to start, rather than switching over completely.

Kinvara or Kinvara Pro?

The Kinvara Pro shares the name but aims elsewhere: more foam, a plate, and a marathon brief rather than a 5 km one. The regular Kinvara stays the light, direct shoe; the Pro is a fast long-distance shoe.

Kinvara, Ride or Endorphin Speed?

The Ride is Saucony's versatile trainer: more foam, more comfort, more weight. The Endorphin Speed adds a nylon plate for pop. The Kinvara sits below both in weight and stack height, and that is exactly why people buy it.

Versions and generations

We keep several generations in stock, including a waterproof GTX version for fall and a wide version. Previous generations are often on sale without losing anything that makes a Kinvara a Kinvara.

Frequently asked questions

What is the drop of the Saucony Kinvara?
4 mm on recent generations, which makes it one of the lowest trainers on the market. If you are coming from a 10 mm shoe, transition gradually: your calves and Achilles take on more.
Kinvara or Kinvara Pro?
The Kinvara is the light, direct shoe for fast sessions and short races. The Kinvara Pro adds foam and a plate: it is a fast long-distance shoe built for the marathon.
Is the Kinvara suitable for daily training?
Yes if your stride is efficient and your volume moderate. For higher mileage, rotate it with something more cushioned like the Saucony Ride.
Is there a waterproof Kinvara?
Yes, a GTX version with a GORE-TEX membrane, useful for fall and wet days. It is slightly heavier and less breathable than the regular version.
