The Saucony Endorphin Azura is the softest and most approachable member of the Endorphin line: all the racing foam, without the plate.

The spec sheet

  • PWRRUN PB foam — Pebax beads, the same material as in the brand's race shoes.
  • No plate, carbon or nylon. That is the choice that defines the shoe.
  • Roughly 40.7 mm of stack at the heel and 32.7 mm at the forefoot, for an 8 mm drop.
  • Around 241 g, which is light for a midsole this tall.

Why take the plate out?

A plate makes a shoe fast, but stiff, and it dictates a stride. Without one, the PWRRUN PB foam works alone: the shoe stays very bouncy, but it forgives more, adapts to a range of paces and can be worn every day without tiring the foot.

It is a super trainer in the literal sense: race-shoe material in a training shoe.

Who is the Azura for?

  • Runners who want the Endorphin feel every day, not just on session days.
  • Tempos and fast long runs, without the stiffness of a plate.
  • Anyone who tried a carbon plate and never got along with it.

Azura, Speed or Pro?

The Endorphin Speed adds a nylon plate: livelier, more directive. The Endorphin Pro moves to carbon, for race day. The Azura is the only one of the three without a plate — the most versatile, and the easiest to wear often.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Endorphin Azura have a plate?
No, and that is what defines it. Neither carbon nor nylon: the PWRRUN PB foam works alone. The shoe stays very bouncy, but softer and more forgiving than a plated model.
Azura, Endorphin Speed or Endorphin Pro?
The Endorphin Speed has a nylon plate, livelier and more directive. The Endorphin Pro moves to carbon for race day. The Azura is the only one without a plate: the most versatile of the three.
Can it be used every day?
Yes, that is what it is for. Unlike a plated shoe you save for sessions, the Azura works just as well on an easy run as on a tempo.
What is its drop?
8 mm, with roughly 40.7 mm of stack at the heel and 32.7 mm at the forefoot. A standard drop, with no particular adjustment needed.
