Altra Lone Peak 9+ GTX Women's Trail Running Shoes
Regular price $21995 CADUnit priceIn stock - New arrival
The Altra Lone Peak is Altra's signature trail shoe, and the one that put the brand on the map with ultra runners and long-distance hikers.
Zero drop and a wide forefoot
Two things define the Lone Peak. First the 0 mm drop: heel and forefoot sit at the same height, which keeps the foot flat and lets the stride work naturally. Then the Original FootShape platform, the widest Altra makes, which lets the toes spread — an advantage that becomes decisive after four or five hours on trail, once the foot swells.
The versions
- The Lone Peak 9 runs a MaxTrac outsole.
- The Lone Peak 9+ moves to Vibram Megagrip — that is what the plus sign means, and it changes everything on wet rock.
- The GTX version adds a GORE-TEX membrane, making it one of the few winter-ready zero-drop options.
Who is the Lone Peak for?
- Ultras and long trail outings, where toe room genuinely matters.
- Fast hiking and long-distance hiking: it is a fastpacking classic.
- Runners already used to zero drop, or ready to make the transition.
- Wide feet that feel cramped in conventional trail shoes.
Going zero drop: read this before buying
Zero drop is not a fashion, it is a change in loading. Without a raised heel, your calves and Achilles take on more with every stride. The transition happens over several weeks, alternating with your usual pair. And winter is not the season to start: cold and slippery surfaces already add their share of strain.
Lone Peak or Experience Wild?
The Altra Experience Wild keeps the wide forefoot but comes back up to a 4 mm drop. It is the way in if zero drop feels intimidating. The Lone Peak stays the pure model, the one for the regulars.
Try it on in store
The FootShape last is like nothing else: some feet feel at home immediately, others do not. Come try it near Québec City.
