The Salomon trail range: which model is right for you?

Speedcross — extreme grip

Deep, aggressive lugs: the Speedcross is Salomon's icon for mud, snow and soft trails. Also available in a waterproof GTX version.

Sense Ride and Genesis — versatility

Balanced cushioning and moderate grip to eat up kilometres on rolling and technical trails alike. An excellent place to start in trail running.

S/Lab and Ultra Glide — performance and ultra

The S/Lab range (Genesis, Pulsar, Ultra) and the Ultra Glide focus on light weight and dynamic cushioning for racing and very long distances.

Waterproof or breathable? The GTX versions

Several Salomon models come in a Gore-Tex (GTX) version that keeps feet dry in mud, slush and cold — ideal in fall and early winter. In summer, a breathable upper that drains quickly is often more comfortable. Look for “GTX” in the model name for waterproofing.

Choosing your Salomon trail shoe

Terrain: deep lugs (Speedcross) for mud and technical ground, moderate lugs (Sense Ride, Genesis) for rolling trails. Size: Salomon often fits a touch snug, especially in the forefoot — when in doubt, an in-store fitting is safest. Weather: GTX for cold and wet, a breathable upper for summer.
