Energy drinks and electrolytes for running

A true liquid fuel, energy drinks and electrolytes deliver rapidly absorbed energy while keeping you optimally hydrated during effort. Unlike water alone, they're formulated to support extended efforts, on road and trail — with local brands like Krono, Näak, Upika and Xact.

Energy, electrolytes, or both?

Energy drinks (drink mix)

They provide carbohydrates that serve as your main fuel during effort — ideal on long runs, the marathon and ultras, when regular energy intake makes the difference.

Electrolytes

Low-sugar tablets or powders that replace the sodium and minerals lost through sweat. Perfect for daily hydration, hot weather and recovery.

Combined formulas

Some drinks combine carbohydrates and electrolytes for a complete solution on extended efforts: energy and hydration in one move.

When to use them?

Before your effort: to top up your stores and start well hydrated. During your effort: once a run exceeds an hour, or earlier in hot weather, to maintain energy and mineral balance. After your effort: electrolytes support rehydration and recovery.

Build your nutrition strategy

Combine your drinks with energy gels and chews for fast energy and energy bars when the effort runs long. For the full picture, explore our entire sports nutrition range. To carry them on the run, see our hydration accessories.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between an energy drink and an electrolyte drink?
An energy drink mainly provides carbohydrates as fuel for effort. An electrolyte drink targets hydration and replacing minerals lost in sweat, with little sugar. Some formulas combine both.
When do I need electrolytes rather than water?
Whenever you sweat heavily: efforts over an hour, hot and humid weather, or if you're prone to cramps. Electrolytes help maintain the fluid balance that water alone doesn't restore.
Can I combine an energy drink with gels?
Yes, but watch your total carbohydrate concentration: aim for about 30 to 60 g per hour (up to 90 g for trained ultra runners) across all products, and take gels with water rather than an already sugary drink.
Do effervescent electrolyte tablets contain sugar?
Generally very little: they're designed for hydration, not energy. They're the ideal option day to day or when you want the minerals without extra calories.
Which drink should I choose for a marathon?
A combined energy + electrolyte formula is often ideal to maintain carbs and hydration over time. Test your drink and dosage in training, never on race day.
Do you carry local endurance drink brands?
Yes: Krono, Upika, Näak and Xact are Quebec or Canadian brands featured in this collection, built for endurance sports.
